Seth Gangaram Not just a Kerosene Dealer.

Intro:
This is a story about a very kind person and a businessman Seth Gangaram.

He lives in an Indian village ,in mid 80s.
He has not only earned good respect in his village but also outside his
village,
He never black markets kerosene and never sells extra to anyone ,
he abides to all the norms laid by the state government.
Scene 1
One day he suddenly expresses his wife while having lunch that we should
now think some thing about people.
Wife asks what do you mean by that ?
He says :
I mean we should now think something about our villagers too as we have
already accomplished all our duties
all our children are well settled.
Wife says :
Oh that’s a pious thing we can do for our family like villagers, who have
always helped us,
Be it the times when there was a great feud among all you brothers for
ancestral
property or when your license was expiring for the kerosene retailing.
He says but I am too old now to do any thing for villagers which require
a lot of time and dedication.
Wife says:
I think you are underestimating yourself.
He says :
I think what I can do is make some people learn about accounts and how
to keep
minimum profits with maximum sale.
Wife says:
Yes this is good thing but this is something you can do within a week ,
I mean think something
better which will help the whole village overall.
…..

At this point Seth agreed to his wife and decides to think something better.

…..

Scene 2
Next Morning he goes to his friend’s(Markand) place and discuss the same
thing ,
and what comes out of that conversation was that he needs to
do something which involves somehow other villagers too.

Here his friend says:
Look Seth I appreciate your intention but why don’t you let me be part of this
endeavor I mean if I can be a active member of this project or whatever I will
be as happy as you.
Seth agreed to it.
………..
After that both laughed and discussed the current trend in Indian cricket.
………
Scene three
While Seth was doing his accounts work of last week kerosene sale.
He was pondering what he should do now for village,
about which he discussed to both his wife and friend and nothing helped.

He was very happy and as soon as he closed his shop for the lunch break,
he nearly runs bare footed to the temple about half kilometer away from his
shop.
And there he prayed and talked to the priest.
…….

Here Seth says :
Punditji few months back you expressed something about
having a new outlet where farmers can buy new seed varieties and new tools for
the agriculture
,during Panchayat meeting.
Priest says:
Yes yes I remember , but Seth what makes you to talk that thing again in this
hour when you
are supposed to be at your shop.
Before you say anything about it further I request you to discuss this thing
in Panchayat next week.

……
Scene four

Everyone gathers and decides that yes there will be a small outlet for the new
tools and seeds varieties
of which two people will take care.
…….
Here Seth says
I think I have always been the one at the receiving end and now I have decided
I will not only teach folks about accounts but also spare my time so that
the community gets benefited overall. And now I would like to have you all decide
what role you want me to play for running proposed new outlet where new tools and
seeds varieties
will be available at the same reasonable price our farmers get it from the city.

Priest says
I think your friend "Markand<—" is also interested in helping for this same thing
as you mentioned before in Panchayat to me.
Seth says
Yes Panditji Markand is not here today as he is writing new songs for his upcoming
album Gavala Poorab ka(Cowboy of East).
Priest says
Oh he writes very obnoxiously and sarcastically, but hardly matters you tell him he
will have to
sit in the outlet every day for two hours in the evening. And you better take care
of bringing seeds and new tools from the
city as you are good in dealing with city businessmen, one visit to city in a month
will be sufficient.
Seth says
I agree and I see no problem in that, lets make it announced once more to everyone ,
clearly and loudly to take their suggestions.
The End.
